This week we shared fresh kale, zucchini, cucumbers, tomatoes, and plums (donated by Lisa) with our clients in the lobby! Pumpkin and squash will be ready to harvest this week as well.

Garden Tip of the Week

August is when the garden peaks. Vegetables are ripening, flowers are blooming, and the bees are busy! It's also the hottest and driest time of the year in the Pacific Northwest, so now is the time to pay close attention to watering. Watering early in the morning is best to prevent too much evaporation during the day. Containers and baskets may need watering twice a day.

While August seems too late to plant anything, it's actually an ideal time to plant cool-season vegetables such as lettuce, kale, arugula, spinach, radishes, and carrots!
